WHAT IS CYBER CRIME..??

Cybercrime is vastly growing in the world of tech today. Criminals of the World Wide. Cyber crime is a problem today because technology is advancing everyday. Cyber criminals and organizations pose significant threats to global commerce and society.

Cybercrime, especially through the Internet, has grown in importance as the computer has become central to commerce, entertainment, and government. Cybercrime, also called computer crime, the use of a computer as an instrument to further illegal ends, such as committing fraud, trafficking in child pornography and intellectual property, stealing identities or violating privacy.

Cybercrime is criminal activity that either targets or uses a computer, a computer network or a networked device. Cybercrime is carried out by individuals or organizations. It aims to damage computers for reasons other than profit. These could be political or personal.

Cybercriminals may infect computers with viruses and malware to damage devices or stop them working. They may also use malware to delete or steal data.

ABOUT CONFUSION MATRIX

Confusion matrices represent counts from predicted and actual values. It is the comparison summary of the predicted results and the actual results in any classification problem use case. The comparison summary is necessary to determine the performance of the model after it is trained with some training data. A confusion matrix is a technique for summarizing the performance of a classification algorithm.

The confusion matrix gives a comparison of different values like False Negatives, True Negatives, False Positives, and True Positives.

True Positive:

Predicted positive and it’s true.

True Negative:

Predicted negative and it’s true.

False Positive: (Type 1 Error)

Predicted positive and it’s false.

False Negative: (Type 2 Error)

Predicted negative and it’s false.

Classification Accuracy

Here TP is True Positive, TN is True Negative, FP is False Positive and FN as False Negative.

The 2 types of error(Type 1 and Type 2) are very crucial and critical in cyber security. For example Consider a face recognition system which is installed in front of the data warehouse which holds critical error. Consider that the manager comes and the recognition system and it unable to recognize him. He tries to log in again and is allowed in.

Another example could be A new person comes and tries to log himself in. The recognition system makes and error and allows him in. Now, this is very dangerous. An unauthorized person has made an entry. This could be a damage to the company.

In both the cases there was an error in the face recognition system. This shows the critical nature that might vary according to situation and condition where we want a tradeoff between the two types of error.

How to prevent Cyber-Crime?

To prevent cyber-crime successfully, set up multidimensional public-private collaborations between law enforcement organizations, the information technology industry, information security organizations, internet companies, and financial institutions. A far apart from the real world, Cyber-criminals do not combat one another for predominance or authority. Rather, they do their tasks together to enhance their abilities and even can help out each other with new opportunities. Therefore, the regular ways of fighting the crime cannot be used against these cyber-criminals.

  1. By Using Strong Passwords
  2. Keep social media private
  3. Protect your storage data.
  4. Protecting your identity online.
  5. Keep changing passwords frequently.
  6. Securing your Phones.
  7. Call the right person for help.
  8. Protect your computer with security software.

So Through This blog it is clear that how Confusion Matrix is playing a crucial role in Crime Crime World..!!
